State Health Department launches monthly wellness pop-up events in Torrance County
ESTANCIA — The New Mexico Department of Health is rolling out a series of recurring wellness and safety pop-up events to provide free health, safety, and harm reduction resources to residents across Torrance County.
The mobile clinics will operate on the second and third Thursday of every month, weather permitting, making scheduled stops in Mountainair, Estancia, and Moriarty.
All services and items at the pop-up events are provided free of cost. Available resources include confidential harm reduction services such as a syringe exchange, Narcan for overdose prevention, and at-home COVID-19 tests. To promote home safety, the events will also distribute medication locks and gun locks. Additionally, staff will offer educational resources focused on nicotine cessation, healthy eating, and active living.
The health department’s mobile unit will follow a set daily schedule for its Thursday routes:
- 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.: Family Health Center, 105 E. Pinon St., Mountainair.
- Noon to 2:00 p.m.: Arthur Park, Highland and 9th streets, Estancia.
- 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.: Bethel Community Store House, 1719 4th St., Moriarty.
The community initiative is made possible through partnerships with the Partnership for a Healthy Torrance Community, Presbyterian Medical Services, and the Bethel Storehouse.
