Speed-Monitoring Cameras Installed on Frost Road

Some vehicles (not the white truck shown) were noted at 16 miles per hour over the posted speed limit of 50 mph.

Area motorists using newly paved Frost Road will need to curb their speed after a set of speed-monitoring cameras being installed. The move comes after the completion of a traffic circle at the intersection of New Mexico Highways 14 and 536, and a speed radar monitor that has been in operation for a couple of months.

A sign warns motorists on Frost Road of new speed-monitoring cameras.

Motorists heading out of the traffic circle, headed east on NM 536/Frost Road, will see a sign reading “Traffic Laws Photo Enforced” at the Wildflower Lane turnoff. A little further down the road, on the opposite side of the pavement, is a tower with a pair of cameras pointed east and west to catch those who violate the speed limit in the area.

Wednesday evening, the East Mountain News parked near the radar unit alongside Frost Road and noted some vehicles traveling (white pickup was not the speeder) as much as 16 miles per hour over the speed limit.
