Kamplain Sets Down a Dozen Batters in 18-3 win

ESTANCIA  — Behind a dominant offensive explosion and a high-powered performance from the mound, the Moriarty Pintos baseball team secured an 18-3 victory over Estancia’s Bears on Tuesday.

Sophomore Micah Kamplain earned the win with a commanding performance on the rubber. Kamplain threw five innings, racking up 12 strikeouts while allowing only one hit and three earned runs. He threw 91 pitches in the outing, holding opponents to a .067 batting average.

The Pintos’ offense backed Kamplain’s effort with a 13-hit barrage. Senior Raiden Scribner led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs. Sophomore Rylan Thackerson mirrored that production, also driving in four runs while recording a double.

Moriarty’s discipline at the plate was a defining factor, as the team drew enough walks and hit-by-pitches to record 18 runs. Sophomore Tyler Denomme showcased remarkable efficiency, reaching base in all five plate appearances and scoring three times.

The Pintos also saw significant contributions from the Kamplain brothers. In addition to his work on the mound, Micah Kamplain drove in two runs on two hits. Senior Nick Kamplain added two hits and an RBI of his own.

On the basepaths, Moriarty remained aggressive throughout the afternoon, led by Scott Batie, who scored four runs despite not recording an official at-bat.

Estancia freshman Juan Cuevas had a hit and drive in a pair of runs, Johnathan Valencia and Tristan Pebley scored runs for the Bears. Devon Chavez struck out seven for Estancia.

With the win, Moriarty moves to 1-0 on the season and will host Grants on Thursday in a 3 pm contest.
