Timberwolves Goalkeeper Earns Spot in Prestigious German Residency Program
May 7, 2026
SANDIA PARK — East Mountain High School junior goalkeeper Aidric Dominguez is set to take his talents to the global stage.
On Monday, May 11, Dominguez will officially sign to join the 2026/2027 Borussia Mönchengladbach Integrated Academy team, a prestigious residential program based in Germany. The signing ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Vista Grande Community Center Gym.
The move marks a significant milestone for the New Mexico native, who has been a standout presence in the net for the Timberwolves. Dominguez’s season statistics underscore his readiness for the elite level: in 20 games as a junior, he logged 1,600 minutes and recorded 126 saves, maintaining a disciplined presence for an East Mountain side that relied heavily on his shot-stopping ability.
A Pathway to the Bundesliga
The Integrated Academy is the result of a strategic partnership between the historic Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach and the International Soccer Academy (ISA). Dominguez is one of only 20 players selected from across the United States following an intensive national scouting process that included talent from MLS academies and top-tier youth programs.
Beginning in August, Dominguez will relocate to BORUSSIA-PARK in Germany for a nine-month intensive residency. He will train under professional conditions directly linked to the club’s youth development structure.
Elite Leadership
The program will be led by second-year head coach Jens Bäumer, who arrived last after serving as an assistant for Borussia’s U17 side, the reigning German U17 Champions. Bäumer, who has years of experience in U.S. soccer development, emphasized that the program focuses on more than just technical drills.
“The program takes a holistic approach,” Bäumer said. “It’s not just about developing young players on the pitch, but also about teaching them important values and supporting their personal growth. Integration into a new environment is a key part of that development.”
Local Impact
For the East Mountain community, Dominguez’s signing is a point of immense pride. His journey to the Bundesliga’s doorstep was paved through years of local development, including stints with:
East Mountain High School Timberwolves
Classic Futbol Club
New Mexico Soccer Academy (NMSA)
AYSO United and East Mountain AYSO
“Each of you has played a role in shaping Aidric into the person and player he is today,” the Dominguez family shared in an invitation to the community.
The signing represents a strategic win for Borussia Mönchengladbach as well, as the club seeks to strengthen its “foothold in the American market” by identifying and polishing the next generation of U.S. talent. For Dominguez, it is the beginning of a nine-month audition in one of the world’s most competitive soccer ecosystems.
