Pintos Weather the Delay, Roll Past St. Michael’s in 5-0 Shutout

Following a 30-minute lightning delay on Thursday, Moriarty erupted for a dominant 5-0 shutout victory over St. Michael’s, improving to 5-4 on the season.

The Pintos already held a 1-0 edge off a Jonah Buck strike when area thunderstorms halted play. Head coach Jordon Allcorn and his squad clearly made the most of the intermission, dissecting the St. Michael’s defense and returning to the pitch with relentless pressure.

Midfielder Dominic Brown blew the game open after the restart, serving up back-to-back assists to Sam Pearce and Buck to push the margin to 3-0 against the Horsemen (3-4). Senior Nathan Dick added to the onslaught with a brilliant 30-yard free kick, using the gusting winds to float the ball through a crowded box and just beyond the reach of diving goalkeeper Noah Redus. Pearce then capped the scoring for the night, collecting a sharp pass from Buck to drive home Moriarty’s fifth and final goal.

The Pintos return to their home pitch for two matches next week, hosting Portales on Tuesday at 5 PM before facing Hope Christian on Friday at 2 PM.
