Pintos Stumble Against Hope Christian

MORIARTY — Porter Chastain drove in five runs and Brandon Wiles tossed a dominant complete-game four-hitter as Hope Christian overcame an early deficit to rout Moriarty 11-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Huskies (5-1) utilized a relentless 13-hit attack and capitalized on three Pintos errors to secure their fifth victory of the young season. After falling behind in the opening frame, Hope Christian scored in four of the final six innings to pull away on the road.
Moriarty (1-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning behind a sparked start from the top of the order. Raiden Scribner finished the day 1-for-3 with a run scored, while Bryce Altheide and Micah Kamplain each collected hits for the Pintos. Amare Gonzales also reached base and drove in a run, but the Moriarty offense stalled after the opening frame, managing only four singles the rest of the way.

Wiles was the story on the mound for the Huskies. After the early stumble, the senior right-hander settled into a rhythm, retired the side in order four different times, and did not issue a single walk over seven innings. He finished with five strikeouts, keeping the Moriarty bats silent for the remainder of the contest.
Chastain led the offensive charge, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored. His production was anchored by Avery Dearholt, who also turned in a 3-for-4 performance at the plate with two RBIs. Caleb Pena and Jaden Wright added two hits apiece as eight different Huskies reached base safely in the win.
Sophomore Cash Klein took the loss for the Pintos, allowing four runs—three earned—over 4 1/3 innings of work. The Moriarty bullpen struggled to contain the damage late, as Nick Kamplain was tagged for seven runs in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
The Huskies’ decisive blow came in the top of the fifth inning. Holding a slim 3-2 lead, Hope Christian exploded for five runs to break the game open. They added three more insurance runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Hope Christian will look to carry the momentum into Wednesday’s road matchup against West Mesa. Moriarty remains at home to host Del Norte on Thursday as it looks to even its season record.
