Pinto Power: Moriarty Boys Soccer Roars to 2-0 District Start

MORIARTY, N.M. — The Moriarty Pintos have surged out of the gate in District 2-4A play, capturing a pristine 2-0 district start and reaching double-digit victories on the year with an impressive 10-5 overall record.

Currently ranked No. 11 in New Mexico Class 4A by MaxPreps, the Pintos find themselves in the midst of their finest campaign in nearly a decade.

A Huge Turnaround

Moriarty’s 10-5 start marks a dramatic turnaround for a program that has battled through several rebuilding stretches. The Pintos have already doubled their win total from the 2025–26 season (5-14-1) and eclipsed the 2024–25 squad that finished 3-17.

In fact, this marks the first time Moriarty has posted double-digit wins since the 2017–18 team finished 14-7-1 and reached the state quarterfinals. Between 2018 and 2025, the program averaged just under six wins per year, never finishing higher than 14th in the Class 4A state division rankings. Now positioned at No. 11, the Pintos have firmly inserted themselves back into state tournament contention.

High-Octane Firepower Sparks District Run

The catalyst for Moriarty’s turnaround has been a ruthless attacking frontline that has racked up 55 goals and 43 assists through 15 matches (3.7 goals per game).

  • Jonah Buck: The senior forward has been an unstoppable focal point, burying 20 goals and dishing out 8 assists for 48 total points.
  • Samuel Pearce: The senior attacker provides elite balance, posting 13 goals alongside a team-high 11 assists.
  • Dominic Brown: The junior forward/midfielder adds secondary punch with 7 goals and 8 assists.
  • Senior Depth: Wesley Francis (5 goals), Nathan Dick (2 goals, 3 assists), Austin Dick (2 goals, 3 assists), and Connor Rebarchik (2 goals, 2 assists) provide relentless pressure across the pitch.

Defensively, backline anchors Levi Jurek, Jack Otero, Xavier Aguilar, and Eugene Francis have tightened the ship in front of goalkeepers Andrew Siefkes and Austin Dick, highlighted by a gritty 2-1 road triumph at Los Alamos to open district play.
