Moriarty’s Cash Klein named to Class 4A All-State second team

MORIARTY — Moriarty High School sophomore Cash Klein has been named to the New Mexico High School Coaches Association Class 4A All-State second team, following a breakout season where he emerged as one of the state’s most dangerous hitters.

The NMHSCA announced the selections following the conclusion of the 2026 baseball season.

Klein was the centerpiece of the Pintos’ offense this spring, putting up numbers that ranked among the best in Class 4A. In 25 games played, the sophomore posted a staggering .556 batting average, collecting 45 hits in 81 at-bats.

Demonstrating significant power and situational hitting, Klein recorded 13 doubles, three triples, and a team-high seven home runs while driving in 34 runs and scoring 29 times.

Behind the plate and at the hot corner, Klein was an anchor for Moriarty’s defense, registering 65 putouts and 20 assists over 92 total chances for a .924 fielding percentage. He also contributed 27 innings on the mound for the Pintos, striking out 28 batters.

Led by Klein’s offensive production, Moriarty finished the 2026 campaign with a state tournament appearance, ultimately falling to Deming in the opening round of the Nusenda Credit Union Class 4A state bracket. With two years of high school eligibility remaining, Klein’s second-team all-state honors set a high benchmark for the future of Pintos baseball.
