Free Leather Craft Workshop set for March 9 in Moriarty

MORIARTY — East Mountain area residents of looking to learn about leatherworking will have a unique opportunity to learn the traditional trade next week at no cost.

The Torrance County Cooperative Extension Service, in partnership with Bethel Storehouse, will host a free leather craft workshop on Monday, March 9. The event is scheduled to run from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Community Storehouse, located at 1719 4th Street in Moriarty.

Participants in the hands-on class will learn basic leatherworking techniques while creating their own personalized leather wristband. Organizers say the workshop is designed to “unleash creativity” and provides a communal space for locals to develop new artistic skills.

Event Details

The workshop is sponsored by the New Mexico State University College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES). As part of NMSU’s outreach mission, the Extension Service provides practical, research-based knowledge to New Mexico communities.
