Edgewood, Moriarty Hosting Easter Egg Hunts

Neighbors across the East Mountains are preparing for a weekend of holiday festivities as both Edgewood and Moriarty announced large-scale community Easter celebrations scheduled for Saturday, April 4.

The two municipalities will host concurrent events featuring egg hunts, family games, and community meals, all free of charge and open to the public.

Edgewood’s “Really Big Egg-stravaganza”

In Edgewood, the town’s “Really Big Egg-stravaganza” kicks off at 9:30 a.m. and runs until noon at the Edgewood Town Hall, located at 171 NM 344.

Moving beyond a traditional hunt, Edgewood organizers have curated a morning of diverse activities, including a community-wide scavenger hunt and a variety of yard games. The event also features dedicated time for children and families to take photos with the Easter Bunny.

Residents looking for a full schedule of the morning’s activities can find more information at the town’s official website, edgewood-nm.gov/calendar.

Moriarty’s City Park Celebration

Just a few miles to the east, the City of Moriarty will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Moriarty City Park, 201 Broadway, beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The Moriarty event, which is expected to draw approximately 200 participants, includes a full community lunch with hot dogs, drinks, and chips provided. The city has organized the hunt into three competitive age brackets for prizes:

  • Ages 0–4
  • Ages 5–9
  • Ages 10–16

The celebration is a collaborative effort between the City of Moriarty and local public safety departments, including the Moriarty Police, Fire, and Animal Control.

Community Support Needed

While both events are free for attendees, Moriarty organizers noted they are still seeking donations to ensure a successful day. The city is currently requesting contributions of bagged candy to fill eggs and bags of chips for the community meal. Donations can be coordinated through the city’s planning and zoning office.
