Edgewood also has full slate of fun on Sunday including Crafts Show, Music, Keep Cool Station, Food Trucks, Water Play Day, Civil War Reenactment, Live Music and Beer Garden.

Here are the scheduled 4th of July events and activities for the East Mountain and Estancia Valley areas for Saturday, July 4, 2026.

Edgewood: July 4th Extravaganza

The Town of Edgewood is hosting its annual celebration at the Edgewood Soccer Field / Recreation Complex (181 NM-344). This year’s schedule follows the traditional split-day format with an afternoon intermission:

  • 8:00 AM: The July 4th Parade kicks off the morning, departing from Edgewood Middle School.
  • 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Daytime Activities):
    • Car show and arts & crafts vendor booths.
    • Field games for kids, pet adoptions, and local food trucks.
  • 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Annual Town Siesta (The park closes/pauses so everyone can rest up for the evening).
  • 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Evening Activities):
    • Gates reopen for evening food trucks and games on the field.
    • Live music on the main stage.
  • 9:00 PM: Fireworks Show lights up the high-desert sky.
  • Admission is free.

SUNDAY, July 5th

  • 9:00am-3:00pm – Crafts Show, Music, Keep Cool Station, Food Trucks
  • 10:00am-1:00pm – Water Play Day (south end of field)
  • 11:00am-1:00pm – Civil War Re-Enactment (north end of field)
  • 6:00pm-9:00pm – Live Band (MisDemeanor), Beer Garden, and Food Trucks

Moriarty: 4th of July Explosion!

Sponsored by the City of Moriarty, the annual 4th of July Explosion! features all-day programming centered around Crossley Park and the local event grounds:

  • 10:00 AM: The Moriarty 4th of July Parade rolls through town.
  • All-Day Fun: The park will host bouncy houses, dedicated children’s activities, and a variety of local food and craft vendors.
  • Adult Amenities: A community Beer Garden will be open on-site.
  • 8:00 PM – Midnight: Live Entertainment takes the stage to keep the crowd moving before and after the main event.
  • Dusk/Night: The City Fireworks Display closes out the night.

Madrid is keeping its legendary, eclectic traditions going strong for Saturday, July 4, 2026. If you want a classic, quirky Turquoise Trail celebration, here is how the day shakes out:

The Madrid 4th of July Lineup

  • 10:00 AM: The Madrid Miners Baseball Game
    • Kick off the morning at the historic Oscar Huber Memorial Ballpark. It’s a great throwback atmosphere to start the holiday.
  • 12:00 PM (High Noon): The Annual Madrid 4th of July Parade
    • The famous, un-choreographed, and wonderfully wild parade rolls straight down Main Street (NM-14) from south to north. Anyone wanting to march or join the fun usually just gathers at the south end of town before noon.
  • All Afternoon & Evening: Live Music at The Mine Shaft Tavern
    • Once the parade wraps up, the party moves over to the Mine Shaft for drinks, dancing, and local talent. The July 4th lineup includes:
      • 3:00 PM: Sunbender (Rock)
      • 6:00 PM: Shiners Club Jazz Band (Jazz)

Traffic Note: If you’re heading up from the East Mountains, expect heavy traffic on NM-14 around midday. Parking fills up fast along the highway shoulders, so getting there a bit early for the baseball game is your best bet to secure a spot before the noon parade shuts down the main drag.

Tijeras & Cedar Crest

While the mountain communities of Tijeras and Cedar Crest do not host major official municipal fireworks displays of their own (largely due to US Forest Service fire restrictions and local terrain safety), they serve as the main daytime hubs for outdoor activities:

  • Tijeras Canyon / Open Space: The local trailheads and limestone/granite geological corridors are open for early-morning hikers trying to beat the July heat.
  • Cedar Crest Foothills: Popular trails like the Four Hills trailhead and local Sandia peaks are expecting heavy day-use traffic for the holiday weekend, especially with the peak of the mountain wildflower season.
  • Local Businesses: East Mountain businesses, restaurants, and mountain patios along Route 14 will be open during daytime hours to capture traffic moving between the mountains and the valley events.

Fire Safety & Closures Reminder: Because these events border the Cibola National Forest, personal firework restrictions remain strictly enforced outside designated city event areas. Local municipal parks and trails may require clearing before dusk to ensure emergency lane access.
