East Mountain High School to Host Groundbreaking for 6th Grade Expansion

SANDIA PARK — East Mountain High School will host a groundbreaking ceremony and community celebration on Tuesday, June 2, marking the official start of a campus expansion project.

The event, which runs from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the school campus, will bring together educators, elected officials, community partners, and local families to celebrate the milestone.

Activities will begin at noon with a complimentary lunch and a 6th Grade Information Fair, featuring informational booths designed to welcome incoming students and families. The booths will remain open throughout the afternoon, closing at 2:30 p.m.

The official program is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. with a press conference featuring community leaders, educators, and student speakers. The formal groundbreaking ceremony and photo opportunities will follow from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

School officials said the expansion represents a significant step forward for local student resources and regional infrastructure. The ceremony is intended to recognize the network of supporters—including construction professionals and community advocates—who helped secure the project’s approval.

Organizers are asking attendees to RSVP by Monday, June 1, to ensure an accurate headcount for lunch. Additional details regarding parking and campus arrival will be distributed to registered guests ahead of the event.
