East Mountain High School Senior Quinlan Gwyther Awarded Coach Dick Shelley Scholarship

SANDIA PARK — East Mountain High School senior Quinlan Gwyther has been named a recipient of the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) Foundation’s Coach Dick Shelley St. Michael’s Basketball Scholarship.
The $1,500 at-large scholarship is awarded annually to graduating high school seniors who excel in athletics and embody the core ideals of sportsmanship, dedication, and scholastic achievement promoted by the association.

Gwyther distinguishes himself both in the classroom and in extracurriculars, maintaining a 4.4 GPA. A dual-sport athlete, he competes for the East Mountain Timberwolves in both varsity basketball and baseball.
Beyond athletics, Gwyther is an active participant in the school’s Speech and Debate program and represents student-athletes statewide as a member of the NMAA Student Leadership Advisory Council (SLAC).
The NMAA Foundation awards approximately 70 scholarships each year, distributing over $75,000 to help New Mexico students further their academic endeavors at the college or university of their choice.
