East Mountain Food Pantry Launches $20K Holiday Food Program Drive to Support 800 Families

CEDAR CREST, NM — The East Mountain Food Pantry (EMFP) has announced the launch of its annual Holiday Food Program, but with a significant change this year. Facing limited food storage capacity, the pantry has shifted its traditional food drive model to focus on raising $20,000 to provide $25 food-only gift cards to 800 families in need.
The community is urged to help the EMFP meet this ambitious goal to ensure every family can enjoy the holiday celebrations. Any extra funds raised will be used to purchase food for regular distribution throughout the year.
📈 Urgent Need Continues to Grow
The need for assistance in the East Mountain community has reached record highs. In 2024, the EMFP reports serving over 7,800 food services to 4,325 individuals—a dramatic increase in the pantry’s 36 years of operation. The client base, which includes many seniors and children, continues to grow rapidly.
The pantry expressed deep gratitude for the community’s support last year, which helped them provide $15 gift cards to 660 families. This year, they hope to reach even more with the increased goal.
