Warriors Trip up Lady Timberwolves

SANDIA PARK — The East Mountain Timberwolves softball team faced a formidable challenge Thursday, dropping both halves of a District 4/5 doubleheader to the Ruidoso Warriors.
Despite the final scores of 29-3 and 25-4, the Timberwolves saw several individual bright spots and consistent offensive production from key veterans and rising underclassmen alike.
Game 1: Ruidoso 29, East Mountain 3
In the opening contest, East Mountain’s offense showed life early, striking for three runs in the first inning to keep pace with the Warriors.
Freshman Isla Campbell led the charge at the plate, finishing the game with a perfect 1.000 batting average (1-for-1) while driving in a run and crossing the plate herself. Junior Natasha Hill also had a perfect outing at the dish, going 2-for-2 and scoring a run for the Timberwolves.

Junior Tess Schumacher contributed to the early scoring surge with an RBI, finishing the game 1-for-2. On the mound, Schumacher provided a clean relief appearance, throwing one inning without allowing a hit or an earned run. Campbell also contributed on the rubber, recording a strikeout during her inning of work.
Game 2: Ruidoso 25, East Mountain 4
The Timberwolves continued to fight in the nightcap, tallying seven hits and plating runs in both the first and third innings.
Junior Arianna Markham-Hinders sparked the offense with a flawless performance, going 2-for-2 at the plate and scoring a run. Senior Sarah Garcia was the primary run producer for East Mountain in Game 2, finishing 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Senior Chaeli Lehocky and Junior Natasha Hill each added to the hit total, with Lehocky going 1-for-2 with a run scored and Hill finishing 1-for-3 with a run of her own. Tess Schumacher remained consistent, going 1-for-2 with an RBI, while freshman Isla Campbell showed patience at the plate to draw a walk and score a run.
Defensively, Schumacher provided another steady relief performance in the circle, closing out the game with 0.2 innings of hitless, scoreless work.
The Timberwolves will look to build on these individual offensive successes as they continue their District 4/5 campaign.
