Short-handed Lady Pintos Fall 53-24 Against Los Alamos

A short-handed Lady Pintos basketball team didn’t have the firepower it needed against Los Alamos on Thursday as Moriarty fell 53-24 in their District 2 4A opener.

The Lady Pintos were without the services of five players from their 14-player roster, and Los Alamos took advantage early as Hilltoppers took an 11-4 first-quarter lead and extended it to 27-11 at halftime.

Angelita Tapia led Moriarty’s scoring with 11 points while Abbie Buekelman had five.

The Pintos hit the road Friday for a 6 pm game against Espanola Valley.
