Moya tosses two-hitter, Launches Grand Slam as Timberwolves win 13-1

ALBUQUERQUE — The East Mountain Timberwolves continued their dominant march through District 4/5 on Tuesday, extending their winning streak to 18 games with a five-inning 13-1 victory over Sandia Prep.
With the win, East Mountain improves to 23-1 overall and remains perfect in league play at 13-0. The loss drops Sandia Prep to 14-8 and 10-3 in the district.
The Timberwolves wasted no time asserting their hitting power exploding for seven runs in the top of the first inning. While Sandia Prep managed to scrape together a run in the second, East Mountain answered with three in the third, two in the fourth, and a final insurance run in the fifth to end the game early via the mercy rule.
Moya’s Masterclass
Senior Christopher Moya was the undisputed star of the afternoon, delivering a two-way performance for the ages. At the plate, Moya headlined the offensive onslaught by launching a grand slam, finishing the day with four RBIs and two runs scored.

On the mound, Moya was equally clinical. He tossed five innings of two-hit ball, allowing just one earned run while striking out two. He showcased excellent command, throwing 72 pitches and navigating through 19 batters to earn the win.
Timberwolves Offensive Leaders

- Charles Birdwell: Had a standout day, going 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and an RBI.
- Luke Stoerner: Was a force in the middle of the order, going 2-for-4 with a double and 3 RBIs.
- Dalton Springall: Went 1-for-2 with two runs scored and 2 RBIs.
- Brody Johnson: Reached base three times, finishing 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

Moya was supported by a clean defensive performance from the rest of the squad, including Stace Davis, who entered as a substitute and scored a run.

East Mountain’s defense was flawless, committing zero errors behind Moya’s efficient outing. The Timberwolves’ .417 team batting average and staggering 1.420 OPS in the contest underscored why they have become the team to beat in New Mexico’s 3A classification.
The Timberwolves look to keep the momentum high and finish their district slate undefeated when they travel to Bosque to close out the regular season on May 1 for a doubleheader starting at 3 pm.
