RIO RANCHO, N.M. — Led by state runner-up Kristina Means, Moriarty High School produced three top-four finishers at the NMAA State Wrestling Championships this weekend at the Rio Rancho Events Center.

Means took second place in the girls’ 120-pound division, while Lilly Shoemate-Means secured third at 135 pounds and Caleb Gustafson placed fourth in the boys’ Class 4A 150-pound bracket.

The Lady Pintos’ duo combined for 45.5 team points, while the Pintos boys’ squad finished the tournament with 37.5 points.

Means (26-3) reached the 120-pound finals after a dominant opening day, recording three consecutive first-period pins. She defeated Ella Gurule (Los Lunas), Linsey Sanchez (Belen), and Akeela Mitchell (Volcano Vista) to advance to the title match. Her run concluded with a 16-1 technical fall loss to Cleveland’s Miranda Stewart.

At 135 pounds, Lilly Shoemate-Means (24-3) bounced back from a semifinal loss to pin Paizlyn Turley of Grants. In the third-place match, she defeated Janessa Perez of Hobbs via a 17-0 technical fall.

In the boys’ 4A 150-pound bracket, Caleb Gustafson (33-3) reached the semifinals with a pin of Taos’ Samuel Vigil and an 11-1 major decision over Angel Chavez of Goddard. After a 12-7 semifinal loss to Bloomfield’s Kellan Ray, Gustafson earned a technical fall over Benjamin Vidales (Miyamura) before falling in the third-place match to Kade Aguirre of Silver.

Several other Moriarty wrestlers contributed to the team score:

• Gabriel Gustafson (113 lbs): Scored 7.0 points, finishing 2-2 for the tournament with a 47-second fall over Uriah Martinez (Pecos).
• Mishen Jaramillo (215 lbs): Earned 7.0 points, recording two first-period pins against Saul Hernandez (Taos) and Armando Lopez (Chaparral).
• Lucas Rodelas Lozoya (144 lbs): Contributed 4.0 points, advancing through the first round of the championship bracket.
• Sonny Apodaca (138 lbs): Scored 3.0 points with a consolation-round pin of Fabian Allen (Shiprock).
