Kamplain Shows Poise in 10-1 Pintos’ Victory

MORIARTY — Sophomore pitcher Micah Kamplain struck out seven and did not allow an earned run over 6 2/3 innings to lead the Moriarty Pintos to a commanding 10-1 non-conference victory over the Valencia Jaguars on Wednesday afternoon.
After Valencia (5-5) pushed across an unearned run in the top of the first inning, the Pintos (3-5) immediately answered with a three-run bottom half and never looked back. Moriarty’s offense tallied 10 hits and took advantage of three Jaguars errors, steadily pulling away with three runs in the third inning, one in the fifth, and three more in the sixth.
Moriarty was propelled by several standout performances at the plate. Sophomore Cash Klein was perfect in the box, going 3 for 3 with a double, an RBI, and a run scored. Senior Raiden Scribner finished 2 for 3 with a double, two runs scored, and a pair of RBIs, while junior Tyler Denomme went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI, a stolen base, and two runs scored.

Senior Nick Kamplain also produced a multi-hit game, going 2 for 3 with a run and a game-high two stolen bases. Junior Royce Dennisson was a constant threat on the basepaths, coming around to score three runs and swiping a bag despite not officially recording an at-bat. Sophomores Trey Denomme (double, RBI) and Rylan. Thackerson each added a hit to round out the offensive barrage for the home team.

On the mound, Micah Kamplain (1-0) kept the Valencia bats guessing all afternoon. He scattered five hits and worked around five walks to silence the Los Lunas-based Jaguars before handing the ball over to Klein, who retired the only batter he faced in the seventh inning to seal the win.
Valencia finished with seven hits as a team but was unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities, leaving runners stranded throughout the contest.
With the win, Moriarty improves to 2-2 at home on the season, while Valencia drops back to .500 on the year.
