East Mountain Senior Aiden Erickson Awarded Prestigious Larry Trepland Memorial Scholarship

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — East Mountain High School senior Aiden Erickson has been named a recipient of the New Mexico Activities Association Foundation’s Larry Trepland Memorial Scholarship, the organization announced this week.
The “at-large” scholarship is awarded annually to graduating seniors who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics and sportsmanship. Erickson, a member of the class of 2026, was selected from a pool of more than 300 applicants statewide.
Erickson maintains a 4.417 GPA while competing as a three-sport athlete in football, basketball, and track and field. During the 2025 season, he recorded a 23.46-second finish in the 200-meter dash at the District 5-3A meet and represented his school at the state level in both the 200-meter and 400-meter events.

The Larry Trepland Memorial Scholarship typically provides $1,000 toward a student’s post-secondary education. The NMAA Foundation established the award to honor the legacy of Trepland and his commitment to New Mexico’s youth.
According to the foundation, recipients are chosen based on their ability to balance rigorous academic standards with the discipline required for high-level athletic participation. Erickson has also competed for Manzano High School during his prep football career.
The NMAA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides support to the students and schools of the New Mexico Activities Association.
