Conservation District Offers Beginning Beekeeping Workshop

MORIARTY — The Central Tri-County Soil & Water Conservation District has announced it will host the 6th annual “Beginning Beekeeping” workshop on April 10, 2026.
The full-day event is scheduled to run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the district offices located at 2506 Old U.S. Route 66, approximately 1.5 miles west of Moriarty.
Craig Noorlander, a designated NM Beekeeper Educator, will serve as the presenter. The workshop aims to provide comprehensive foundational knowledge for aspiring beekeepers, covering a range of essential topics, including:
- Hive set-up and placement.
- Beekeeping do’s and don’ts.
- Equipment basics.
- Swarms and first-year hive health.
- Hive management basics.
Organizers emphasize that pre-registration is required for this event. While the workshop is offered free of charge, space is strictly limited, with only a few seats remaining.
Attendees are reminded to bring their own lunch. The presentation will be conducted on an ongoing basis throughout the scheduled hours.
As an added bonus, participants who are present at the end of the workshop will be eligible to enter a drawing to win a complete beginner’s beekeeping kit. The kit includes one complete hive with protective equipment and a smoker; live bees are not included in the prize.
