Carrying On Her Father’s Legacy: Tiffanie Shook Takes Over Daily Operations at Canon’s Southwest Septic

EAST MOUNTAINS— Tiffanie Shook is stepping into her late father’s shoes to lead Canon’s Southwest Septic into a new era, taking full control of day-to-day operations as a second-generation, and now a woman-owned business. Despite joining forces with Homefield Onsite Environmental, Shook wants local residents to know that the core values remain unchanged: it is the same trusted company with the exact same work-hard-for-you ethic that her father built.

The transition marks a pivotal milestone following years of uncertainty. After the 2021 passing of founder Danny Strode, the business remained tied up in probate court for two years. In 2023, Shook purchased the company to ensure its doors stayed open and her father’s legacy remained intact. After initially taking a hands-off approach to navigate personal health challenges, Shook has now fully assumed daily operations, positioning her as a standout female leader in the historically male-dominated septic and skilled trades sector.

“I am so excited that God gave me the opportunity to keep my dad’s legacy alive in this way while creating new opportunities for our community,” Shook said. “It’s an incredible honor to continue what he started and to help our team and community grow together.”

“I want the people in the East Mountains to know; we are pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy. We are currently building a new office building and truck yard in Moriarty. We also have hired many local businesses to help with rebranding (truck decals, signage, uniforms, business cards, etc.). I really want people to know we are committed to the local environment. Sometimes with a name change, people wonder if they are local or not, we are. I grew up in Stanley,” Shook said.
