Edgewood “Community Dumpster Days” set for Sat. & Sunday

EDGEWOOD — The Town of Edgewood will host its monthly “Community Dumpster Days” this weekend, offering local residents a designated location to dispose of large loads and household debris.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, at the Edgewood Roads Department, located at 20 Municipal Way.

The drop-off site will open Saturday at 9 a.m. and remain operational until 3 p.m., or until the dumpsters reach capacity. If space remains, the crew will reopen the site Sunday morning at 9 a.m. and continue until the dumpsters are full or 3 p.m.

Resident Requirements and Vehicle Restrictions

The service is strictly limited to Edgewood residents, who must present a valid ID to participate. City officials noted that while carloads, trucks, and ATV trailers are welcome, tandem axle trailers are prohibited. Residents with oversized loads may be redirected to local landfills or transfer stations.

Town officials issued a firm reminder that dumping after hours or leaving trash outside of the provided bins is strictly forbidden.

Prohibited Items

Due to strict landfill regulations, several items cannot be accepted during Dumpster Days. Prohibited materials include:

  • Appliances & Electronics: Freezers, ice makers, and batteries.
  • Hazardous Materials: Paint, medical waste, hazardous household waste, and contaminated soil.
  • Construction & Industrial Debris: Concrete materials, railroad ties, asbestos, and metal drums (barrels).
  • Miscellaneous: Tires, glass, and ashes.

About the Program
