Moriarty MX Prepares for new Season

MORIARTY — Sprawling across the high-desert landscape of the Estancia Valley, New Mexico’s largest motocross compound is more than just a collection of dirt tracks—it is a high-speed proving ground for the Southwest’s elite riders.
Moriarty MX, located just off Martin Road, has solidified its status as the state’s premier destination for off-road racing. The massive facility features a diverse layout that includes a flow-style main track, a dedicated arena-cross circuit, and a Supercross-style course originally built to the specifications of New Mexico professional and Supercross champion Jason Anderson.
The sheer scale of the compound allows for a “flow-style” design philosophy, which emphasizes safety and momentum. Large jumps are engineered with forgiving takeoffs and long landing zones, a combination that provides a manageable entry point for novice riders while offering enough “big air” to challenge seasoned experts.

As the 2026 season shifts into high gear, the facility is preparing for one of its most significant dates on the calendar. On Saturday, May 16, Moriarty MX will host a regional qualifier, a critical stop on the prestigious “Road to Loretta Lynn’s” amateur championship circuit. The event is expected to draw hundreds of competitors from across the region, all vying for a spot at the national finals in Tennessee.
In addition to high-stakes racing, the track remains a community fixture through its “Sunday Funday” open practice sessions. Running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., these sessions provide a controlled environment for local enthusiasts to tune their machines and sharpen their skills.
Technical development is also a core focus of the facility, which frequently hosts clinics from “The MX Factory.” These intensive training sessions cover everything from body positioning in deep ruts to mastering the timing of the starting gate drop.
While the facility encourages speed, safety remains the priority. All riders are required to wear full protective gear, including DOT-approved helmets, boots, and gloves, before entering any of the three tracks.
For those in the East Mountains and beyond, Moriarty MX continues to set the standard for motocross in the Land of Enchantment, offering a professional-grade experience that keeps the local racing community moving forward.
