8th Annual Moriarty Mini Comic Con Features Local Acts, Vendors, and Costume Contest

MORIARTY — The Moriarty Mini Comic Convention will return for its eighth annual installment next month, bringing pop culture, local entertainment, and family activities to the Moriarty Civic Center.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 for attendees ages 13 and older, while children 12 and under can enter for free.

The single-day convention features a full lineup of scheduled programming throughout the afternoon:

• 11:30 a.m.: The New Mexico Gunfighters perform an outdoor action skit titled “Mistaken Identity” on the back lawn.
• 12:00 p.m.: New Mexico Dragon Kajukenbo hosts a karate and self-defense demonstration raising funds for new equipment, uniforms, and seminar training.
• 12:30 p.m.: The East Mountain Companion Animal Project presents adoptable pets and information on local rescue efforts.
• 1:00 p.m.: The New Mexico Gunfighters return to the back lawn for a second comedic performance, “Dueling Drunks”.
• 1:30 p.m.: Mermaid Melody performs live cello music featuring her signature “Siren’s Song”.
• 2:30 p.m.: The New Mexico Gunfighters present their third Old West skit of the day, “Miss Molly/Mean Sheriff”.
• 3:00 p.m.: The annual costume contest kicks off, featuring categories for ages 12 and under, 13 and older, and groups. Participant lineup begins at 2:50 p.m.
