Deming ends Moriarty’s Baseball Season

DEMING — The Deming Wildcats brought an abrupt end to the Moriarty Pintos’ season Saturday, using a pair of big innings to secure a 13-4 victory and sweep the opening-round series of the 2026 NMAA Class 4A Baseball State Championships.
One day after a dominant 15-1 win in the series opener, the No. 4 seeded Wildcats (21-5) once again overwhelmed No. 13 Moriarty (14-11) at home. Deming jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and added six more runs in the fourth to put the game out of reach.
Raiden Scribner provided the primary offensive spark for the Pintos, finishing a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two runs scored. Wesley Francis and Mario Romero each added a hit and an RBI in the losing effort.
Cash Klein took the loss for Moriarty, allowing six earned runs on five hits in one inning of work. Scott Batie two innings of work, surrendering six runs—four earned—on six hits.
The Wildcats’ high-powered offense was led by Chris Olvera, who drove in four runs on two hits, including a triple. Ezra Sainz finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a triple of his own, while P. Covarrubias added two hits and a pair of RBIs.
Max Allison earned the win for Deming, striking out five batters while allowing just one hit over three scoreless innings of relief.
With the series sweep, Deming advances to the state quarterfinals of the Nusenda Credit Union State Baseball Championships. The Pintos finish their 2026 campaign with a 14-11 record and 10-2 District 2-4A mark.
