Veterans’ Mobile Outreach Coming to Estancia

ESTANCIA — The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS) will bring its Mobile Outreach Vehicle to Torrance County on April 15 to assist local veterans and their families in navigating state and federal benefit systems.

The outreach event is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Torrance County Assessor’s office, located at 205 S. 9th Ave. in Estancia.

Veteran Service Officers will be on-site to provide one-on-one assistance with applications for U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and State of New Mexico benefits. The team offers guidance on a wide range of services, including healthcare, disability compensation, pension programs, and education benefits.

Organizers emphasize that the mobile unit aims to bridge the gap for veterans in rural areas who may find it difficult to travel to permanent NMDVS office locations.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to meet with a Veteran Service Officer in person and get help with your benefits,” the NMDVS stated in an announcement for the event.

Veterans planning to attend should bring several documents to support their claims, including:

  • A DD-214 or other proof of military service.
  • A valid photo ID.
  • VA letters and any relevant medical, financial, or service documents.

The NMDVS Mobile Outreach Team provides information not only for veterans but also for their families regarding state-specific programs and services.

For more information, community members can contact the NMDVS Central Office at 866-433-8387 or visit the department’s website at www.nmdvs.org.
