Timberwolves Trio Headed to Connie Mack World Series

FARMINGTON — Fresh off a dominant state championship season, three standouts from the East Mountain High School baseball program are taking their talents to one of youth baseball’s biggest stages.

Seniors Cole Darnell, Chris Moya II, and Luke Stoerner are set to represent the East Mountain Timberwolves at the 2026 Connie Mack World Series in Farmington, New Mexico. The premier national tournament, held at Ricketts Park from July 24 through July 31, brings together top 16-to-18-year-old amateur talent from across the country in front of college coaches and professional scouts.

The trio helped power East Mountain to a historic campaign, leading the Timberwolves to a 28-1 overall record, an undefeated 15-0 run in district play, and the New Mexico state title.

All three players delivered strong offensive production throughout the 29-game season:

• Luke Stoerner (Sr.): Led the trio at the plate with a .541 batting average across 110 plate appearances and 85 at-bats. Stoerner racked up 46 hits, 48 runs scored, 29 RBIs, 13 doubles, and three home runs, finishing with a .642 on-base percentage and an .800 slugging percentage (1.442 OPS). (Lubbock Christian signee)
• Cole Darnell (Sr.): Batting .429 in 22 games, Darnell logged 12 hits, 12 runs scored, eight RBIs, and five doubles in 28 at-bats. He posted a .541 on-base percentage and .714 slugging average (1.255 OPS). (Lassen College signee)
• Chris Moya II (Sr.): Played in all 29 games, batting .309 with 21 hits, 24 runs scored, 33 RBIs, and six doubles in 68 at-bats. Moya maintained a .466 on-base percentage while striking out just seven times all season. (Lassen College Signee)

The Connie Mack World Series, sponsored by the American Amateur Baseball Congress (AABC), features 12 teams competing in pool play followed by a double-elimination bracket tournament for the championship.
