Lady Timberwolves Soccer gets new Head Coach

SANDIA PARK — East Mountain High School has named Rebel Lathrop as the new head coach for its varsity girls soccer team, school officials announced.

Lathrop, a U.S. Army combat veteran and former firefighter, brings multi-sport coaching experience in soccer, basketball, and football to the position. He takes over a Lady Timberwolves program that finished 12-8 last season and earned a spot in the state tournament.

“Throughout my military service, I held leadership positions overseas in combat, developing the discipline, teamwork, and resilience that continue to shape my coaching philosophy,” Lathrop said in a statement released by the school. “Being a lifelong athlete, I believe sports are an opportunity to build confidence, character, accountability, and respect while preparing athletes for life’s challenges.”

Lathrop said his primary goal is to foster a competitive, supportive environment that challenges players as athletes, students, and young adults.

The Lady Timberwolves open their upcoming season on the road on Aug. 21 against Del Norte High School.
